A mother and an infant born only a few days ago died in a fire at a Bedouin community located near Mishor Adumim, not far from Jerusalem.

Police were called to the scene Saturday morning after members of a Bedouin tribe residing in the area reported the fire. Authorities have no indication that foul play was involved in the deaths.

A Magen David Adom ambulance team pronounced the mother and daughter dead at the scene. Their bodies were transferred to the Forensic Institute at Abu-Kabir, while officials launched a probe into the circumstances of the fire.

Paramedic Felix Lotan from Jerusalem recounted the difficult moments as rescue teams discovered the bodies.

"Accessing the area was very difficult. We were dealing with a site that had no light in it. I saw the fire from afar," he said. "When we arrived, the entire site was completely burned down. There was not much left for us to do. We found two bodies…it was a very difficult sight…removing the bodies was not a simple task…the Bedouins helped us in the evacuation."
