Ban Ki-Moon: Gilo building akin to settlement expansion
None
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon harshly condemned Israel's plans to expand Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood, and said that such a move is akin to expanding a settlement in every way.
In a communiqué he published, Ban said that he is sorrowed by the Israeli government's decision to expand the settlement of Gilo, which was built on Palestinian land occupied by Israel in the 1967 war. The UN chief added that he believes this time of action harms peace efforts and casts doubt on the option of achieving a two-state solution. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
