Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said during his visit to the Tel Hashomer military based, "The military will not be able to exist if soldiers do not obey their orders. I suggest removing the IDF from the political debate."
During his visit, that was accompanied by members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the chief of staff added, "Any publication on the negotiations for the release of Gilad Shalit is detrimental. It is best that the issue remain behind the scenes." (Hanan Greenberg)
