Ministerial committee passes bill to watch female draft-dodgers

The Ministerial Constitution, Law and Justice Committee passed a bill meant to combat the phenonmenon of young women dodging the draft by fictitiously declaring they lead a religious lifestyle.
According to the bill, a surveillance mechanism will be established to watch young women after they were released from the IDF on religious claims. Deputy Health Minister Yakov Litzman threatened that the bill, should it be passed ultimately, would case a coalition crisis. Education Minsiter Gideon Sa'ar said during the discussion of the bill, "We, too, have fundamental issues, such as serving in the IDF." (Attila Somfalvi)
