Gay marriage momentum stalls in 2 US states

The state-to-state march to legalize gay marriage across the left-leaning northeastern United States lost some of its momentum this month.

 

Voters in Maine adopted a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage on November 3. Since then, legislatures in New York and New Jersey have failed to schedule long-expected votes on bills to recognize the unions in those big states. (AP)
