Government asks foreign ambassadors to back building freeze

Foreign Ministry Director-General Yossi Gal met with some 60 ambassadors and foreign representatives and urged them to "adopt Israel's decision to halt construction in the West Bank for the next 10 months."
Gal called on the Arab states to support the decision and encourage moderate factions ahead of renewed negotiations with Israel. Gal further clarified that Israel adopted its position as part of a wide scale effort that also led to an improvement in the Palestinian Authority's economic situation. (Roni Sofer)
