Tnuva and Tara raised the prices of some of their milk products this week by 1.8-5.8%.

The highest price hike was recorded in low-fat yogurts: The prices of Tnuva's products were increased by 5.5% to NIS 3.69 (about $1), while the prices of Tara chocolate and vanilla products were up 5.8% to NIS 2.84 (about 75 cents). Soft white cheese (250 grams) now costs NIS 6.78 ($1.8) and soft white cheese with olives costs NIS 7.75 ($2).

Tara raised the prices of its Tom & Jerry yogurts by about 3.1%. Soft white cheese (250 grams) is now 1.8% more expensive, while the price of Tara yogurt in 1.5-liter jugs was increased by 4.9%.

Tnuva said in response that the company has also reduced the prices of some product, "for example the Yoplait drink and enriched milk." According to a company official, "The weighted price increase is minimal, and was implemented following the inflation. There is no change in the prices of popular basic products."

A Tara official said, "The price increase is tiny and aimed at adapting costs."
