Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the peace process with the Palestinians during a meeting they held in Cairo.
After the meeting Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said Israel's decision to approve the construction of dozens of housing units in east Jerusalem was thwarting peace efforts. "This behavior raises questions regarding its seriousness and intentions to reach a permanent agreement," Aboul Gheit said. (Roee Nahmias)
