The Knesset plenum rejected a privately submitted bill that sought to limit the phenomenon of girl's evading military service on the basis of religious grounds. According to the bill, young girls seeking an exemption from military service by declaring a religious lifestyle would be asked to provide proof that they studied for at least two years in an institution for religious learning.
