US seeks to pressure Iran, revolutionary guards

The aim of sanctions on Iran would be to pressure the government and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps to curb Iran's nuclear program without hurting ordinary people, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday.

"We have already begun discussions with our partners and with like-minded nations about pressure and sanctions," Clinton told reporters. "Our goal is to pressure the Iranian government, particularly the Revolutionary Guard elements, without contributing to the suffering of the ordinary (people)." (Reuters)
