Defense Minister Ehud Barak met with Quartet Envoy to the Middle East Tony Blair and discussed efforts to renew negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. "We must concentrate now on a process that will lead to renewed negotiations to bring us closer, and later to real negotiations," Barak said during the meeting.
Before the meeting, the former UK prime minister called on Israel to continue efforts, and said that "as a result of recent changes, there is a feeling of hope for the future. Much still needs to be done, but credit is due to the Israeli government for the changes it has made." (Roni Sofer)
