An 11-year-old boy from the city of Netanya was detained for questioning Sunday morning on suspicion of firing at a municipality worker with an air gun. The incident nearly resulted in a road accident. The child was later released.

The worker was driving on Netanya's Herzog Street when a number of air gun bullets hit his car. He drifted from his lane and almost caused an accident. When he got out of the car, he spotted a boy sitting on the window of one of the houses in the area and shooting at him.

The worker called the police, who detained the boy for questioning and located the air gun. As the child is younger than the age of criminal liability, he was taken to the police station together with his mother in order to deliver a testimony. The mother collapsed after realizing what her son was involved in.

The child cannot be prosecuted due to his young age, but a police official said he was warned. The official added that the gun's license would be checked and that its owner would be questioned on suspicion of negligence and would face criminal charges for failing to guard his weapon as required by the law.

The worker, who did not require medical treatment, decided not to file an official complaint against the child, after witnessing his mother's difficult situation.
