Lufthansa announced over the weekend its plans to increase its seat capacity by 35% on the Tel Aviv-Munich route, which it reinstated about a year ago, by adding a fifth weekly flight between the two cities.

Air Berlin also announced that it would add seven additional flights to Tel Aviv from various cities around Germany.

El-Al currently operates 19 flights to various destinations in Germany and plans in August to add another flight to Munich and another flight to Berlin.

Air traffic between Tel Aviv and Germany was third in size in 2009, following the US and Turkey with 2.27% growth, an outstanding increase in comparison with the decline witnessed on other routes.
