An official conference of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will be held in Israel after decades of being held in Paris. The conference will be attended by heads of organization's Tourism Committee.

Last week, Tourism Minister Director-General Noaz Bar-Nir took part in a meeting of the OECD's Tourism Committee, where he presented Israel's preparations for hosting the organization's 86th conference, which will be held in Jerusalem in October.

A meeting of the OECD members' tourism ministers will be sponsored later on by Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov. Some 50 tourism ministers and representatives of the organization's member countries, as well as additional countries, will be invited to the conference.

Prominent figures in the world's tourism and economic industries will also take part in the conference to discuss green-economic growth in tourism.

According to Tourism Ministry officials, the decision to hold the conference in Israel in general, and in Jerusalem in particular, is a demonstration of trust in Israel's tourism industry and economic potential.

The three-day conference will begin October 20 and will deal with green growth as a derivative of the OECD program for developing and promoting a green policy as a measure for economic growth.
