Sharon back in hospital after weekend at home

Ex-PM's 'vacation' at home successful, hospital says; more visits expected in future

After 48 hours at home, former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was returned to the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv Saturday evening.

"Ariel Sharon's first vacation at his home was successful and went according to plan," the hospital said after Sharon returned from his Sycamore Ranch in southern Israel.

The former PM was transferred to the rehabilitation department at the hospital for further tests and follow-up.

In a conversation with Ynet, a medical official at Sheba said that Sharon is in good condition.

"Overall, there are no problems whatsoever. In all, the weekend went by wonderfully. The entire stay, as planned, lasted about 48 hours. We have an orderly plan to hold 3-4 visits of 48 hours. Should all go well, he will be transferred to the Ranch on a permanent basis," the official said.

The hospital said that "Sharon will stay at the medical center until the next vacation, which will be set in coordination with his family and based on his health condition."

Sharon was taken to his home Friday for the first time since falling into a coma.
