'Lebanon' wins at Asia Pacific Film Festival
Film by Samuel Maoz takes award for best screenplay after winning Golden Lion in Venice
"Lebanon", a film by Samuel Maoz, won the screenplay award at the Asia Pacific Film Festival hosted by Australia Thursday.
The movie has previously won the Golden Lion for best picture at the Venice film festival.
"Lebanon" also received the judges' panel award. We are very proud, said the movie's distributor in Australia. He added that "Lebanon" had begun as a personal experience and turned into something much larger.
The festival hosts directors from Asia, the Ukraine, and the Pacific. Mark Ivanir was nominated for the best actor award for his role in "The HR Manager", which won the Israeli Oscar for best film, but lost to China's Chen Daoming.
"Lebanon" will go on to compete for six awards at the European Oscars.
