Did Barak forget sensitive documents in hotel?

Defense Minister Ehud Barak's office denies reports that he inadvertently left top secret documents in London hotel

Defense Minister Ehud Barak's office denied Tuesday a report by Channel 2 News suggesting that while on a recent visit to London, Barak inadvertently left a briefcase containing sensitive documents of a security nature at his room in the Westminster Park Plaza hotel.

The MOD said that all the defense minister left behind were some "unimportant notes" he had prepared ahead of a meeting with a British official.

According to Channel 2, the documents were highly classified, some even categorized as "Purple" - the highest level of security classification – with handwritten noted.

Luckily, Channel 2 said, the person staying at the same hotel room after Barak was an Israeli businessman. He found the documents, alerted the Israeli authorities, and those arranged for an official to come pick them up.

Channel 2 claims to have MOD corroboration for the incident.

The Defense Ministry stressed that the papers left were not classified in any way: "Those notes did not contain any information that was not previously said by Defense Minister Barak, or otherwise reported in the media."
