Plan to provide solution for growth in demand for broad-band applications

HOT plans NIS 55M infrastructure upgrade

Upgrade to make HOT Israel's first optical fiber telecom company. Project slated for completion by end of 2014

HOT Telecommunications Systems directorate on Tuesday approved the company's plan for the upgrade of its current distribution infrastructure at a cost of NIS 55 million ($16 million).

The upgrade costs will include field work and the purchase of equipment and services. The project is slated for completion by the end of 2014.

The network upgrade will enable the telecom company to expand its customer services across the board and will effect the following improvements: Ultra high-speed internet packages, additional HD and 3D viewing channels and a larger internet-traffic capacity which will allow for improved VOD services as well as for additional services in the future.

The company's upgrade scheme will provide a solution for the expected growth in demand for broad-band applications and uses and will serve the company and its customers over the next decade.

The project will entail infrastructure work including the underground installation of optic fiber cables and auxiliary equipment and is to be carried out by several contractors selected by HOT over the past months.

It should be noted that HOT has recently completed a pilot project in a number if streets in the Raanana municipality in the center of Israel from which the company drew conclusions that will be implemented in the full-scale installation.
