Sites offer southerners free entrance

Following weekend's heavy rocket attacks, southern residents may enter some of Israel's leading tourist attractions for free till end of August

Some of Israel's leading tourist attractions are offering southern residents reductions and free entrances in the coming week, in a bid to help them get away from the ongoing rocket fire for a while.

 

The Israel Nature and Parks Authority, for example, offers southern residents free entrance to a number of national parks and nature reserves in the eastern Negev and central Israel.

 

Residents of the cities of Ashdod, Ashkelon, Ofakim, Beersheba, Kiryat Malachi and Kiryat Gat, and residents of the Eshkol, Sdot Negev, Shaar Hanegev, Merhavim, Hof Ashkelon, Shafir, Be'er Tuvia, Yoav and Lakhish regional councils will be able to enter the following Israel Nature and Parks Authority for free (during opening hours, not including overnight stays) until Wednesday, August 31.

 

Visitors must present an identification card including their address in order to enter for free. For details, visit the Israel Nature and Parks Authority website.

 

The sites include:

  • Bio-Ramon Geological Park
  • Avdat National Park
  • En Avdat National Park
  • Mamshit National Park
  • Tel Arad National Park
  • Yarkon National Park
  • Apollonia National Park
  • Good Samaritan Museum

 

In addition, a number of tourist sites in northern Israel have launched a "2 for the price of 1" campaign for the residents of the Gaza vicinity, Beersheba and Ofakim. The sites taking part in this campaign include:

Visitors must present an identification card in order to enter.

 

  • The Rosh Hanikra visitors center offers free entrance to children from southern Israel.

 

  • Southern residents will be offered a free ticket for each ticket they purchase at the Temple Institute in Jerusalem. Tel. 972-26264545.
