Israel to host 53rd SPATA convention

Annual meeting expected to draw 100 travel agents, wholesalers, airlines, tour operators and other travel-related officials from Poland and US, include visits to popular tourism destinations

Israel will play host to the 53rd annual Society of Polish American Travel Agents (SPATA) on September 10-19.

The convention will draw 100 travel agents, wholesalers, airlines, tour operators and other travel-related officials from Poland and the US, and include visits to popular tourism destinations in Israel, including Jerusalem, Ein Kerem, the Dead Sea, Haifa, the Galilee and Tel Aviv, among others.

"We are honored to be hosting this year's SPATA convention in Israel, which will strengthen ties between the Israeli and Polish travel communities and help foster a new interest in travel to Israel," said Haim Gutin, Israel commissioner for tourism.

SPATA was founded in New York in 1959 by Boleslaw Laszewski and Bronislaw Wegiel. In its more than 50 years of existence, the organization has expanded and today claims more than 150 travel agencies, wholesalers and airline companies as its members.
