Palestinian charged with murder of Israeli

Suspect stabs owner of apartment where he was staying, flees with victim's vehicle

The Southern District Prosecutor's Office on Monday filed an indictment against Nour Khamaisa, a West Bank resident, for the murder of an Israeli citizen whose name is under a gag order.

According to the indictment, the two knew each other prior to the murder and 21-year-old Khamaisa even lived in the victim's apartment. A week after he moved in with the victim, an argument erupted between the two, and quickly developed into a violent quarrel.

At this point Khamaisa picked up a knife and tried to stab the owner of the apartment. After a long struggle, the suspect managed to strangle the Israeli man and stabbed him in the neck.

The indictment also stated that while the victim was lying on the floor, gasping for his last breath, the defendant washed his hands, hid his stained shirt under the bed, stole two mobile phones and escaped with the victim's vehicle.

Magen David Adom emergency unit arrived at the apartment and pronounced the Israeli man's death. Khamaisa was arrested by the Ashkelon Police Department, and has been charged with murder, disruption of legal proceedings, theft and illegal stay in Israel.
