Chef Hanoch Bar Shalom dead at 52

Israeli chef, who penned food column for Yedioth Ahronoth for over 15 years, found dead in his Tel Aviv flat

Renowned Israeli chef Hanoch Bar Shalom was found dead on Tuesday. He was 52 years old.

Emergency services were reportedly called to his Tel Aviv apartment in the early hours of the afternoon but had no choice but to pronounce him dead at the scene.

The cause of death was not released.

Bar Shalom, who was a successful caterer and food stylist, was also a columnist, writing a popular food column in Yedioth Ahronoth for over 15 years.

In 2007 he released his first cookbook "The taste of the place."

Bar Shalom began his culinary career at the age of 29, after leaving the Tax Authority in favor of chef school. After finishing school he worked at several restaurants, before venturing out on his own as a caterer.

He began writing for Yedioth Ahronoth soon after that.
