Former president Moshe Katsav
left prison Tuesday for a six-hour furlough in order to attend his grandson's bar-mitzvah. Katsav, serving a seven-year rape sentence, had asked for a 24-hour leave, but the Israel
Prison Service agreed to only six hours.
His wife arrived at the Maasiyahu Prison at approximately 7 pm Tuesday, when Katsav left the prison.
The former president, who has never expressed regret for the allegations for which he was incarcerated, left the prison several weeks ago, and was placed under house arrest in his Kiryat Malachi
home, but was be allowed to attend synagogue.

The former president has been serving a seven-year sentence since December 2011 following his conviction on two counts of rape,
indecent acts, sexual harassment and obstruction of justice.
Last year, he was allowed to leave prison for eight hours in order to attend his son's wedding.
He has filed a request for pardon from President Shimon Peres
despite never admitting to his crimes or expressing regret.
