Gary Numan adds second Israel gig

British punk rock and new wave legend to perform at Tel Aviv's Barby Club on February 10, 11

VIDEO – British new wave and punk legend Gary Numan has decided to add a second performance in Israel next month, a day after his planned February 10 gig at Tel Aviv's Barby Club, following high demand.

The February 11 performance will be held in the same venue. Tickets for both gigs are being offered for NIS 220 (about $63) for a limited time period.

Numan began his musical career in the 1970s as the front man, writer and producer of London-based punk rock and new wave band Tubeway Army, which is best known for the hit "Are 'Friends' Electric?"

Since then, Numan has been considered a pioneer of commercial electronic music and one of the first musicians to introduce electronic instruments and synthesizers into their work.

Numan's first song as an independent artist," Cars," was released in 1979 and made it to the top of the charts. Over the next decades he released more than 20 albums and inspired many generations of pop and rocket musicians – from Prince through Kanye West to Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters.

Numan will arrive in Israel as part of a concert tour promoting his new album, "Splinter (Songs from a Broken Mind)," his first studio album since 2006.

It will be the musician's first visit to Israel. He is being brought here by the ICP Concerts production company, which previously brought artist like Peter Murphy, Amanda Palmer and Mercury Rev.
