Alaa, an ambulance driver from Masaken Hanano in Aleppo, has taken it upon himself to defend those that have no voice or protection from Syria's brutal civil war: the local cats.
Alaa told Rueters that he buys $4 of meat daily in order to feed some 150 street cats in his neighborhood, which has been mostly abandoned due to years of heavy shelling from government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad.
The Syrian man's mission to help the cats has been continuous for over two months during which he's helped keep all of the abandoned animals fed and healthy when not saving the lives of his fellow man.
