The Foreign Ministry confirmed Saturday that rescue teams in Peru have found the body of an Israeli tourist who went missing on Monday after his boat overturned while rafting in the Apurímac River.
The Israeli "Harel 669" rescue team located the young man's body while scanning the area via helicopter and then directed the rescuers to its exact location. Israeli officials in Peru are making arrangements for his body to be repatriated.
On Thursday, the body of a 21-year-old girl from Ramat Hasharon was found during aerial search operations. She was identified and her family informed. Israel's consul in Peru, Amir Cohen, had arrived earlier Thursday in nearby Cusco.
