A state of emergency was announced at Ben Gurion International Airport on Tuesday morning as an El Al flight was preparing to make an emergency landing.
After UP flight 2521 to Prague took off from Ben-Gurion airport with 174 passengers on board, rubber parts from its right wheel were found on the runway, forcing the plane to turn around so the wheel can be repaired.
The plane arrived back at Ben-Gurion Airport around 10 am and started circling the area several times north and east of the airport, flying low to allow an examination of its wheel.
Numberous Magen David Adom teams and an IDF Homefront Command unit were called to the airport.
