17 people killed in deadly week on Israeli roads

After week full of traffic accidents, 14-year-old girl and 19-year-old boy in serious condition after car they were driving in flips over in southern Israel.

After a deadly week on the roads left 17 people dead in the past week, a 14-year-old teenage girl and a 19-year-old boy were seriously injured overnight Friday after the car they were driving in flipped over on Route 4 near Ashkelon.

 

 

A 15-year-old girl who was also in the car was moderately injured while another teenage boy suffered minor injuries in the accident that took place early Saturday morning near Kibbutz Karmia. The cause of the accident is still unknown.

The two seriously injured teenagers were treated by MDA paramedics at the site of the accident and were transferred to the Soroka Medical Center by a military helicopter.

 

The 19-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury and was sedated in an intensive care unit. The 14-year-old girl, also in serious condition, suffered multi-system damage and is sedated in a pediatric intensive care unit.

 

The accident came after a deadly week on Israeli roads with 17 fatalities in one week. On Friday evening, a 70-year-old man died in an accident that involved three vehicles in Ashdod. A 31-year-old was seriously injured in the accident and a 70-year-old woman and 15 year-old teenage boy were moderately injured.

 

Another accident that took place on Friday morning led to the death of an 80-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a car in Ashdod.

 

On Thursday, a 49-year-old man was killed in Majdal Shams after a 20-year-old motorcyclist did not stop in time. On the same day, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a car.

 

In another tragic accident, three workers from Thailand were killed on Tuesday in a car accident that took place at the entrance Moshav Hatzav in central Israel.
