Poland to offer safe haven to 60 Syrian Christian families

Poland's Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz says the country will take in 60 Christian families fleeing violence in Syria.

Kopacz said Tuesday that "for a start" 60 families with children will be brought to Poland. More could follow later. She said that Poland, a Christian nation should "quickly react" and offer help to Christians who are "persecuted in a barbaric way in Syria." The decision follows accusations by Andrzej Duda, who won Poland's presidential election this weekend, that the government has been slow in offering help to Syrians. A Polish-Syrian organization has been seeking permission for months to bring in some 300 Christian families from violence-torn Syria.
