Justin Hayward to perform in Israel

English musician, best known as lead singer and guitarist of The Moody Blues, will play rock band's greatest hits in Tel Aviv on October 24.

A lot of water has flowed down the Thames since 1967, when 19-year-old Justin Hayward wrote and composed the ballad "Nights in White Satin" by the Moody Blues, which is considered one of the greatest songs in the history of rock music to this very day.

"Nights in white satin, never reaching the end. Letters I've written, never meaning to send. Beauty I've always missed, with these eyes before. Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore," Hayward wrote about yearning love from afar.

Hayward, who joined the Moody Blues in 1966, starred as the British band's lead singer and guitarist in its legendary symphonic rock album "Days of Future Past," which turned the band from a mediocre R&B group into to a brilliant progressive band which provided experimental music and released 15 albums that have sold more than 70 million copies so far.

In the mid 1970s, Hayward initiated a solo career which produced eight albums. One of his most famous songs is the ballad "Forever Autumn" from the 1978 album "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds," which became an eternal classic and was a huge hit in Britain and the United States upon its release.

Now he is arriving for his first concert in Israel, which will be held at the Wohl Amphitheatre in Tel Aviv on October 24, and has promised to perform the Moody Blues' greatest hits, songs from his solo albums, as well as songs written by others, like "Forever Autumn."

Hayward said in a recent interview in Britain, just before embarking on his current concert tour, that he never gets tired of playing Moody Blues hits. "I'm lucky enough not to have lost the emotion or the motivation, because it's a wonderful thing to be able to share. And the audience provides the emotion around that," he said.

Tickets for Justin Hayward's Tel Aviv concert are on sale at the www.rockstage.co.il website, starting at NIS 369 (about $98).
