Smokie to perform in Israel in November

One of most popular British rock bands in 1970s, best known for its hit single 'Living Next Door to Alice,' to play two concerts in Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Smokie, which was one of the most popular British rock bands in the 1970s, will arrive in Israel for two concerts in the winter, at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv on November 11 and at the Haifa Auditorium on November 12.

  

 

Tickets will be offered for NIS 179 to NIS 599 ($47-160), depending on the seat's location in the auditorium.

Smokie was formed in Yorkshire in 1974 and gained a lot of success. The band's most famous hits include "Don't Play Your Rock 'n' Roll to Me," "Lay Back in the Arms of Someone," "I'll Meet You at Midnight" and "Living Next Door to Alice," which had many cover versions.

 

 

Despite a number of line-up changes, Smokie has been very successful around the world and has sold more than 30 million albums, which were particularly popular in the Scandinavian countries – Denmark, Finland. Norway and Sweden.

 

"We're very happy to come to Israel and we'll perform all our hits," says the band's bass guitar player Terry Uttley.

 

The band will arrive in Israel as part of its European tour. It is being brought to Israel by Dudi Berkovich of the Hadran promotions and production company.
