Crossift athletes run between several stations – lifting weights, throwing medicine balls, doing pull-ups, swinging kettle balls, flipping truck tires, jumping rope, and doing handstands, all within in a team framework.
Since he was seven–years–old, sport has always held a special place in Meller's life. He started in roller hockey, continued on to tennis, and then began doing 'street workouts'. "We would watch the workouts on youtube, and then start performing them."
At a certain point, his group of friends met with a Crossfit coach, Zohar Lipkin, who exposed them to the unique sport. The sport is both intensive and varied; it combines all the different elements of physical fitness, while using equipment from the different disciplines, in contrast to conventional workouts. Crossfit doesn’t deal with body building; it's main focus is developing a very high level of physical fitness.
I really enjoy life
"Bit by bit my skill level began to rise," Meller says, "The workouts have become intensive, and required a lot of investment on my part, and I feel completely invested. My motivation just keeps rising as I strive to reach new goals."Aren't you worried that Crossfit will stunt your growth?
"From what I have read and researched, it's a myth. If you workout out with the correct form, there is no reason your growth would be stunted."
You are only 15 and you work out so much. Are you enjoying your childhood?
"Every athlete who reaches this level needs to give up certain things. I really enjoy life. There are kids who prefer to play X-box, and there are those who prefer to ride around on their electric bikes, but I prefer to reach new levels of fitness."
Yogev won first place in the African continent completion, and took 10th place in the world completion out of 1,500 teens between the ages of 14-15, and is now set to be the first and only Israeli to compete for the title of "The Fittest Teen on Earth."
