In the winter of 2014 social networks where set abuzz when news broke that a comedic film titled "The Interview," featuring Seth Rogen and James Franco, was being scrapped by Sony pictures in the face of threats from the North Korean government and recent cyber attack.
This did not stop Rogen, who is set to return to the big screen in a new Sony entertainment film about Christmas. While logic says the movie would be a friendly holiday flick, the trailer shows a whole different story.
The movie seems to abandon political correctness and play on racy humor, including one scene in which Rogen is shown in a church wearing a sweater with a large star of David – sparking the potential for a conflict with the Catholic establishment? The rebellious actor assures us that it won't – even though he declares that: "We did not kill Jesus," in the movie.
In a conversation with Ynet, Rogen and his fellow member of the tribe, director Jonathan Levin, clarified that the Catholic community has nothing to worry about, stating that the wild comedy, which features stars like Joseph Gordon Levitt and Anthony Mackie,
barely challenges the religious establishment (although the trailer shows Haredi Jews eating questionably kosher food).
The plot follows three friends who are trying to put a new spin on their Christmas party traditions with a one time visit to the craziest Christmas ball ever. They know it will never happen again. The movie, which is set to hit theaters on the 25th of November, will feature Michael Shannon, Lizzy Caplan, and Mindy Kaling.
