The Fall, one of the most important post-punk bands in Britain, will return to Israel for one show at Tel Aviv's Moadon Hateatron (Theater Club) on February 9. The first 100 tickets for the gig will be sold for NIS 199 (about $51), and the rest for NIS 229.
The Fall was founded in 1976 in Manchester by Mark E. Smith, Martin Bramah, Una Baines and Tony Friel. It released its debut album, "Live at the Witch Trials" in 1979. The band reached its peak in the 1980s, thanks to iconic albums such as "Bend Sinister."
The group was active in Manchester's punk scene and its music was typically characterized by repetition and an abrasive guitar-driven sound, as well as lyrics which included harsh social criticism.
The Fall has been mentioned as a major influence for different bands such as Faith No More, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, LCD Soundsystem, Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys, as well as for Israeli artists like Amir Lev and Eran Zur.
This will be The Fall's third visit to Israel. It first performed in Tel Aviv in 1991 at the legendary Roxanne club, and returned in 2011 for a gig at the city's Barby club. Its latest visit was targeted by the BDS campaign, which tried to prevent the band's arrival but failed.
The Fall is being brought to Israel by the ProgStage production company, which has been responsible for the arrival of artists such as Rick Wakeman and Renaissance and for the upcoming Henry Rollins show.
