Police recommend prosecution for alleged rape of female employee under his tutelage.

Police announced on Thursday after investigation of Shoham Yosef, director of Ayalon Prison in Ramla, that it would recommend prosecuting him on charges of rape and indecent acts while exploiting police power.

Yosef is suspected of committing the offenses on a number of occasions against a female employee of the Israel Prison Service who was under his tutelage.

Investigation of Yosef raised suspicions that he had committed such acts in additional cases, including when he held prior positions.  The investigation began after information given to police by Israel Prison Service sources, and it proceeded with their cooperation.

Upon taking over of the role of Israel Prison Service chief, Ofra Klinger announced the formation of a new unit subject to the service's internal auditor to deal with complaints of inappropriate behavior. She also declared a "zero-tolerance policy" towards inappropriate behavior of any kind.
