Seven soldiers injured in crash

Seven soldiers injured in accident on Lebanese border

After conducting routine maintenance on the border fence between Israel and Lebanon in the Mt. Dov area, an APC crashed into a D9 bulldozer, injuring seven; three were airlifted to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, and the rest were driven to Ziv Medical Center in Tzfat.

An officer, NCO, and five soldiers were injured in a crash between a D9 bulldozer and an armored personnel carried in the Har Dov area. Two were seriously injured, three moderately, and two were lightly wounded. None of the injuries are life threatening.

The IDF has opened up an investigation of the incident, and the families of the soldiers have been notified. The IDF is still not clear on the details of the crash.

Ziv Medical center reported Wednesday morning that "four soldiers arrived in rescue helicopters to the trauma unit of the ICU and were operated on throughout the night by orthopedic surgeons. Two of them are hospitalized in the orthopedic wing with trauma to their upper and lower limbs. The other two are still in the surgical ward with broken ribs and a spleen injury, and the other has bruising all over the body."

The crash occurred at approximately 8:00pm on Tuesday. An initial investigation revealed that IDF combat engineers were returning back to their base on Mt. Dov after a day of maintenance work to the border fence separating Israel and Lebanon. As the force was travelling towards the base an APC carrying soldiers crashed into the D9 bulldozer travelling in front of it. The injured were all in the APC.

It took several hours to evacuate all of the soldiers due to the difficult terrain and the need for heavy security due to the accident occurring on the tense border with Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah affiliated media reports that IDF forces have resumed their work in the area, and even posted pictures of the IDF working on the fence.
