Four killed in Haifa Bay car accident

Several months after route 772 is opened, the first fatal car accident kills four people in a head-on collision. The road, consisting of two lanes in opposite directions, has no separation barrier. Police are investigating whether or not one of the drivers drove into oncoming traffic.

Four people were killed in Haifa Bay overnight on Saturday in a head-on collision on Route 772, connecting Kiryat Ata and Rekhasim. Fatalities included a 72 year-old woman and 60 year-old man from Kiryat Bialik, a resident of Daliyat al-Karmel and another woman. A third man was also lightly injured.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and EMTs provided medical treatment to the injured, three of whom were evacuated to Rambam hospital in serious condition. A fourth casualty was rescued by the fire department after being trapped in his vehicle and is in serious condition.
