Light autumn rains fall in northern Israel

A gentle rain fell Friday around Haifa, Carmiel and the upper Galilee regions, with local showers in the center of the country forecast as well; the weather also brings with it dangerously high waves, making swimming prohibited in areas along the Israeli coastline.

The North was treated to its first rainfall on Friday, as reports of a local shower began to pour in from Haifa, the Krayot, Nahariya, Carmiel and settlements in the Upper Galilee region. The showers will hopefully usher in a rainier season, after three arid years that have left the Kinneret and Aquifers in dire condition.

A weather forecast professional from Mateo-Tech Meteorological Services estimated that local showers in the Center of the country can be expected on Friday, as well. The sea is also expected to react to the changing weather, with relatively high waves of 80—180cm that will make it dangerous to enter the water.

Saturday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy to sunny, with a rise in heat and humidity mainly in the mountainous and central areas of the country. A northern wind is expected to pick up, with the sea remaining dangerous and waves reaching three meters during the afternoon.

Sunday is expected to be fair, with another increase in temperature and dry weather in the mountains and central regions.
