Trump advisor David Friedman
Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor David Friedman spoke to ynet shortly after the elections, saying that “Trump believes that everyone in Israel - from people on the right to people on the left – want peace. No one wants their children to continue to be killed in wars.”
The President-elect himself was recently interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, and was quoted calling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict “the war that never ends,” and said he hoped to help craft a resolution between the two sides.
“That’s the ultimate deal,” Mr. Trump said. “As a deal maker, I’d like to do…the deal that can’t be made. And do it for humanity’s sake.”
“Trump will let Israel lead,” Friedman said. “He won’t force Israel.”
Friedman is currently in the running to be the new US Ambassador to Israel.
Trump has promised to do several things vis-à-vis Israel, such as moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, increase US defense aid, and to allow Israel to request more aid from the US Congress.
