The demolition phase of the iconic Tel Aviv landmark has been completed earlier than expected and as such, it has been decided to open Dizengoff Street earlier. For nearly two weeks, vehicular traffic and public transportation has been diverted to nearby streets.
Construction on the new plaza will continue as planned.
The municipality said that the next phase will include infrastructure work, landscaping and construction of a bike path. Work will begin next week and will last for roughly a year. During this period, traffic will proceed as usual and a safe path for pedestrians providing access to businesses will be erected.
Work will be conducted from Sunday to Thursday from 07:00am to 11:00pm.
According to the municipality, "The new plaza will provide an open and green space complete with the Agam fountain at the center of the square. Work is expected to finish at the beginning of 2018, and the project is expected to cost around NIS 60 million."
