One Israeli killed, eight injured in Cuba minibus crash

According to initial details, the minibus crashed after the driver lost control of the vehicle on a wet road in the central city of Morón; identity and other information on victims will be released soon. Canada is assisting Israel with information via embassies, as Israel and Cuba have no direct diplomatic relations.

According to reports from the Israeli embassy in Ottawa, Canada, one Israeli has been killed and eight others lightly-to-moderately injured in a minibus accident in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba on Friday night.

 

 

The group was traveling in the central Cuban city of Morón when poor road conditions caused the driver to lose control of the minibus and crash. The minibus rolled several times before coming to a stop.

The injured passengers were evacuated to the Antonio Luaces Iarola hospital in Ciego de Ávila.

 

Israel and Cuba have no direct diplomatic relations and all information related to the accident is coming to the Israeli Foreign Ministry by way of the Canadian embassy in Cuba, which is providing the Israeli consulate in Ottawa with details.
