Elderly woman stabbed by her husband in her sleep in Modi'in
Police in the central city receive a distress signal from a 77-year-old man reporting that 'I stabbed my wife'; woman evacuated to hospital having sustained serious wounds while the man also suffered moderate stab wounds in what police believe to be an attempted homicide and suicide.
The woman’s husband, who sustained moderate wounds, reported the incident to the police and told them that he had been responsible for the stabbing and had apparently tried to commit suicide afterwards.
In the early hours of the morning, the police station of Modi'in received a distress signal after the man apparently pressed a panic button in their home on Migdal HaMenora Street in the central city.
“I stabbed my wife,” he told the police, prompting large numbers of policemen to make their way to the scene and find the two wounded individuals in their apartment.
The woman was in the bathroom when found by police and Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics while the husband was in a different room. According to initial findings the woman woke up while being stabbed in her upper body.
“When we went into the apartment we saw a conscious woman lying on the floor having suffered from a number of stab wounds,” one paramedic recalled. “The man in the apartment was also suffering from bleeding stab wounds in his upper body and was evacuated in moderate condition.”
