Undercover Border Police agents arrest 3 rioters near Har Adar
Palestinians have been violently rioting since the terror attack that claimed the lives of three Israeli security personnel; undercover agents catch one rioter red handed as he tries to set fire to a tire; Abbas indirectly condemns attack.
Police arrested three rioters on Thursday evening in the Palestinian village of Biddu, not far from Har Adar where three security personnel were killed in a terror attack earlier this week.
The suspects, who were arrested in a complex operation of the Border Police's Jerusalem counterterrorism undercover unit, were taken for questioning.
Since the attack on Tuesday, Palestinians have been violently rioting in Biddu, which is close to Beit Surik, the home of Nimer Jamal, the terrorist who carried out the attack.
The rioting led to the special arrest operation, which included Border Police agents going undercover among the rioters. One of the suspects was caught red handed while trying to set fire to a tire.
The attack claimed the lives of Border Policeman Solomon Gavriya and security guards Youssef Ottman and Or Arish.
President Reuven Rivlin paid a condolence visit on Thursday to Gavriya's family, after visiting the Ottman and Arish families the previous day.
Solomon's parents told the president of their son's injury about a year ago in a stabbing attack and how he insisted to return to active duty.
Rivlin embraced Gavriya's mother Yashimbat as she was crying. "What can I tell you, a mother? Your pain leaves us without words. Your child is a true hero who saved many children from a vicious murderer," Rivlin told her.
he Border Police commander told the president of Staff Sgt. Gavriya, how he was always on hand to help his friends, and about Solomon's close relationship with his family.
Jason Greenblatt, US President Donald Trump's envoy to the Middle East, also visited the three families and called for prayers for the three killed security personnel.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas indirectly condemned the attack in Har Adar. His spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudaina, was asked on Palestinian radio what was Abbas's position about the attack. He replied that "The president's position has always been to condemn any act of violence, including this attack, whatever the source may be."
