US' Virginia lifts execution moratorium after Supreme Court ruling

Virginia's governor has lifted a moratorium on executions in Virginia after the US Supreme Court upheld lethal injections.

Gov. Timothy Kaine spokesman Gordon Hickey said that in light of Wednesday's ruling, executions will proceed according to the procedures that were in place before the court agreed to hear Kentucky's Baze V. Rees case in September. He said the governor will continue to review clemency petitions on a case-by-case basis. (AP)
