1. The British AUT's Real Agenda
Adina Kutnicki ,   Nj, US   (04.27.05)
Eitan, you are really too kind in your description of this diabolical boycott . Let's face it - it is antisemitic to its core. No ifs, ands and buts about it. This is a blatant tactical move to deligitimize Israel in the world community by subliminally (and overtly)comparing Israel to South Africa. These putrid antisemites dare to compare the all inclusive university system in Israel - where Israeli Arabs, Arab Palestinians and all others are free (to the detriment of Israeli security nonetheless!) -to preposterously show support for Hamas and assorted terror groups! They are very cognizant of the world's disdain for apartheid S. Africa and wish to tap into this feeling to fuel their antisemitic agenda. Their ultimate goal is to destroy Israel. Furthermore, while Arabs receive the exact same university education as their Jewish counterparts, Jews are not allowed in Arab countries (let alone their universities)except under the pain of death. No fool should think for a minute that the members of British AUT do not know these facts. However, in their animus towards Jews (yes it's the Jews they are after) they cannot control themselves. As Britain and other countries in Europe slide deeper and deeper into the antisemitic cesspool, Israelis should watch them like hawks. At the end of the day, the Brits have alot more to lose than the Israelis, unless they don't mind being brought back to the stoneage.
2. the boycott means an end to academic freedom
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen Md   (04.28.05)
First of all, the leaders of the boycott are misfits, liars, and a disgrace to the teaching profession. Universities are supposed to be a place where ideas and theories are researched and investigated. The call for the boycott was not based on any such concept as the motion was pushed through without allowing dissenting arguments from supporters of Israeli Universities. Only the rantings of an outcast and despised Israeli professor (who in less enlightened countries would be tried for treason or at least fired) was considered and no testimony was allowed to refute his lies and hate-filled rhetoric. In essence, the whole episode could be compared to KKK members in the old South found not guilty because the Judge would not allow evidence to be introduced to the Jury of 12 KKK members. It just goes to show people that in England, the intelligentsia and upper crust are amoral.
3. do not use the term anti-semitic
daniel ,   amsterdam   (04.28.05)
Even though I agree that this boycot is an expression of Jew hatred I suggest we don't use the word anti-semetic. The reason I suggest this is purely out of propaganda reasons. Sometimes you should say what is most effective, not what is most true. Nobody listens to us once we say something is anti-semitic. Too many friends of Israel dispair at how we find this or that anti-semitic. Sometimes we are indeed wrong, sometimes people simply don't reckognize what we see. Anyway, using the term anti-semitic in this case would not help. How about evil, stupid, wrong, insane and disgusting? The moment you use the word 'anti-semitic' you give those folks from AUT an excuse. Because if we use that word they can act as the victims. They can say that all they are doing is critisizing Israel and those crazy paranoid Jews cannot accept it. Therefore, do not give them this excuse. Try this: We have the right to compare our situation to other countries such as China (Tibet), India (Kashmir), Russia (Chechnia) or Romania (Transilvania) because we have the right to be treated equally. As long as these countries are not boycotted this boycot is an expression of the same apartheid that they accuse Israel of.
4. Who do they remind you of?
Philip Weinstein ,   PA USA   (04.30.05)
Listening to the maggots of The AUT is frightening because of their utter disregard and contempt for the lives of innocent Israelis. Children blown up on a bus is no big deal to these "intelligentsia" because they were guilty of being Jewish children. That their Country was involved in a complex War with a culture that glorifies death and practices child sacrifice means nothing to these merciless Progressives. The crime of being an Israeli child eliminates the need for sympathy. Their coldness in advocating the death of the Jewish State can only be compared to the cold-hearted people who made up Hitler's willing executioners.
