1. See You All In Gush Katif
(05.08.05)
This Yom HaAtzmaut and in future ones too! http://english.katif.net/
2. From independence to sorrow
zeev ,   geneva   (05.09.05)
What Israel calls a day of independence is in fact a day of sorrow. Israel destroyed more than 400 palestinians villages, expelled their inhabitants because they were not Jews, and maintained them in 60 camps in miserable situation. If Israel likes to avoid History transforming very soon its day of independence in a day of sorrow worldwide, it has to abolish the apartheid laws, allow the return of the Palestinian refugees and treat all its inhabitants equally regardless of their religion.
3. Jews of Katif: it is not too late
Palestinian ,   Switzerland   (05.09.05)
As a Palestinian, I understand the sorrow of the Jews of Katif. But they should blame their government. If Israel accepts the creation of one democratic state with equal rights for all, regardless of their religion, and the return of the Palestinian refugees, you will not need to evacuate your village. This may be your last chance. Call for the creation of one state with equal rights for all. And then you will see the Palestinians helping you and welcoming you.
4. to zeev and saldeeb
dan ,   brussels,eurabia   (05.09.05)
Stay in geneva,i do think you should know each other... one state, what a grotesque joke...
5. Very creative thinking
t.l. ,   Israel   (05.09.05)
Sure, declare one state for Jews and Arabs and one the day the Arabs, being that they will be the majority, will gain control and kick the Jews out again. Brilliant plan! Not to mention bringing millions of so-called refugees into an advanced largely secular social system built by Jews. I have a better alternative: all Palestinian Arabs move to Jordan, which sits on 70% of British mandate Palestine and where 80% of the population is Palestinian Arab, incorporate Judea, Samaria, and Gaza into Israel and build the grandest highway in the world to connect all of israel together. Oh yes and we also erect a 20 meter high concrete wall with a 1 km buffer filled with mines around our borders and voila! You Arabs there, we Jews here, and we never have to bother each other again!
6. From segregation to humanity
Shamai ,   Palestine   (05.10.05)
In Rome, Masters thought slavery was necessary. In South Africa, Whites hought apartheid was necessary. In the USA, Whites thought racial segregation laws were necessary. In Germany, Nazis thought racial laws were necessary. East German Communists thought Berlin wall was necessary. The Bible thought separation between Jews and Goyim was necessary. Sharon thinks separation wall between Jews and non-Jews is necessary. Slavery finished. Apartheid finished. Racial segregation finished. Nazi racial laws finished. Berlin wall finished We need now to finish with the Bible's separation and Sharon wall separation. Wake up!
7. to # 6 what ???
abu arab jarab ,   jerusalem   (05.11.05)
the bible didnt seperate between anyone on the contrary the bible encouraged love between people "GOD IS LOVE" "LOVE EACHOTHER" THE GREATEST LOVE IS TO LOVE YOUR ENEMIES" " WHO HIT YOU ON YOUR LEFT CHEEK GIVE HIME THE RIGHT TOO" but with all my respect to othe religious books encouraged hatred and wars "like anyone who is a moslim and want to change must be killed" or many many things encouraging hatred between genders and maraying 4 women and....
8. Bible is not the Gospel
Shamai ,   Palestine   (05.11.05)
You are making a small mistake. You are quoting the Gospel. I speak about the Bible. Two absolutely different things. I don't deny that Islamic norms are discriminatory. We have also to change them.
9. to shami wa7sh
to shami palestine ,   palestine   (05.13.05)
man honestly you are the 1st man ever to confess really i appreciate you!! it is great you moslims have to change some of the bad norms that in the modern way it is impossible to continue but take care i know that in islam who critic one saying becomes KAFER !!! take care all the respect for you
10. To #6
David ,   United States   (05.13.05)
Shamai, you've done a great job manipulating history to fit your own agenda, but there is one flaw. You see, African Americans did not regularly bomb white Americans. West Germans did not constantly try to enter East Germany to blow up East Germans. Nelson Mandela did not advise his followers to murder innocents for their cause. And please, can we keep the Nazi references to the bare minimum? We already have more than enough misplaced Holocaust rhetoric floating around. Unfortunately, Palistinians do regularly enter Israel to destroy human life. Thus, a wall is not necessary for rascist reasons as you try to suggest, but rather for protection. The funny thing is, it's working very well. Until your government and people proves that they will not blow themselves up at every opportunity, the wall should remain.
11. Isn't it interesting that...
Shai ,   Israel   (05.16.05)
every time an Arab talks about one state for two peoples he talks about joining with Israel, rather than joining with Egypt or Jordan? Why? :-)
12. Yom Haatzmaut in Berlin
Gerd Schulz ,   Germany   (05.17.05)
We celebrated Yom Haatzmaut in Berlin too (Potsdamer Platz).
13. Re-creation of Israel was along time coming
David Landman ,   Natick, USA   (05.17.05)
The re-creation of Israel was a long time coming and a glorious thing to celebrate. If the Palestinians had been a peaceful people they could be celebrating the creation of a second Palestinian state along side Jordan at the same time, but then they would come up with another reason to hate Jews. Now the two state solution is the Jordanian/Palestinian Federation and Israel, with the Peace Fence to separate and keep out the terror.
14. Happy Independence Holiday
Dan ,   Philly, PA   (05.19.05)
I wish to greet the citizens of Israel who love and support their tiny nation with a Happy 57th Independence Day!!! Israel made a long way and strive to get where its at today despite constant hostilities and threats by its Arab neighbors as well as by Arabs living within its borders. The Jews were clearly outnumbered by the Moslems and yet Israel managed to survive all the wars waged against her!!! Not only that, but Israel was able to advance itself and become a lead nation in high-tech, medicine, engineering, and other fields that contribute to all of humanity, including its Arab enemies. I wish Israel endless years to come with growth, joy, and much success!!! May all the citizens of Israel experience love and respect among one another and towards others, may peace and security come about between Israel and its Arab neighbors, and may every citizen of Israel live in happiness and success. AMEN!!!
