1. Revolting!
Uri Stein   (05.20.05)
The encouragement of a demented and egregious Psychological disease - Homosexuality, epitomizes societal collapse! I see a bleak future for this country if such barbarism persists!! אלוהים ישמור!!!
2. This is the Holy Land of Avraham Shapira
Sal Azam ,   Chicago, USA   (05.20.05)
And of Baruch Marzel, Senhadrin,Sharon.......................................................................................... Why dont you follow Iran and bring a real revolution and cleanse your country of all corruption. Follow the Ten Commandments and stop following zionim. sick zionists.
3. Sad! Sad! Sad!
Ameer ,   USA   (05.21.05)

4. to Uri and Sal

Uri, Listen, I think most people would agree that to have this parade in Yerushalayim would have been a bad idea, for obvious reasons which I think are self-evident and dont require an explanation. But Eilat? Whats wrong with Eilat? Tel-Aviv wouldve been a good option too. These are two very free spirited cities (I used to live in Tel Aviv). Eilat, I think, was a good compromise. The concept of compromise is apparently lost on some individuals who have commented on this issue previously. Sal, Listen mate, at least they're doing it with other people, which is a lot better than doing it with your camel or your sheep. No pun intended.
5. uri and sal
jay ,   chicago   (05.21.05)
You two are both crazy. sal, you respond almost the samer way to every article. you have no flexability. What do you want us to follow? If you hadn't gone beserk after the camp david talks and let cool heads prevail, Palesine would have been its own country. uri- you are a bigot!!!. What is your problem? Live and let live. What has a homosexual ever done to you? Have you ever heard of a thing called tolerance? Shabat is a wonderfull time to learn about what I'm sure is a new idea to you.
6. Gay Pride
Carol ,   Israel   (05.21.05)
Homosexuality has been around at least since biblical times and it really shouldn't matter if someone is born gay or chooses it. It is what it is. Not any different than all the variations of heterosexual sex. I find it interestingthat people can point to the bible and talk about what God says and totally ignore other things he says. I personally am for stoning people! If you can have appliances that can run on shabbat with a timer you could find a loophole here too. Why not have a parade in Jerusalem? If we have freedom of religion than why can't we have freedom FROM religion as well?

All the hyper-religious handwringing aside, I'd much rather see these people celebrating Israel's diversity in Eilat, than that obnoxious bunch calling themselves "Queers Against the Occupation" demonstrating in support of Palestinian terrorists.

I agree, I didn't know there was such a group. Something for everyone! I do have to say that the gay community showed class by cancelling the big festivities of August because of the disengagement.
9. Israel is an open society
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.21.05)
In Israel as opposed to other countries within the ME, people can express themselves in a safe environment. It's not like Iran where people are still publicly stoned to death or arrested because of the way they dress. I've seen interviews with Palestinian homosexuals who live illegally in Israel to avoid persecution.

I agree with both of you. I do think that Israel's tolerant attitude stands in sharp contrast to the fear and loathing felt by gay men and women in the surrounding Arab countries. And, as strange as it seems, there actually is a group known as Queers Against the Occupation, although what's really queer about them is their ideology...not necessarily their sexual orientation. It's amazing how their members are so blinded by their loathing for Israel that they'll even support those regimes that would make their lives miserable beyond their wildest expectations. Also, Carol, I think you're right about the cancellation of the festivities at the time of the disengagement in August. It showed class and also sensitivity and maybe that's all the more reason for Israel to embrace these people now.
11. Sal get out my country now!

I agree with you. He's going to end up putting a strain on our medical system in order to get the psychotherapy that, in all likelihood, isn't going to help him anyway. What he really needs is an exorcist to rid him of all his Zionist demons.

I firmly believe that if we ignore him he will just fade away. He gets off on upsetting people.
14. You'd be safer living next to a gay than a palestinian
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA USA   (05.23.05)
You'd be safer living next to gay men or gay women than you would be living next to a palestinian. No matter what kind of sex they want to have, they don't try to kill you. The Torah talks about stoning to death people who don't eat kosher or keep Shabbos or have gay sex. I haven't seen any stoning to death for anything in Israel lately and keeping it that way is certainly more civil than the alternative. However, the palestinians, unlike the Israelis, have a death penalty and they kill people who "collaborate" with Israeli even thought there is no proof. You can be sure they would kill gays and lesbians too if they just knew who they were.

Sal Azam seems to be suffering from PTZD, post traumatic zionist disorder. It's an obsessive condition where the patient thinks day and night of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish thoughts. This condition needs to be treated aggressively or it tends to spread. I say cut him no slack.
