...because it is importand to the Jews. They know that once they manage to wrest controle over the city they will have succeeded in cutting out our heart and soul.
If we give in on Jerusalem we will have broken with 3000 years of Jewish history and I doubt if we ever recover. Jerusalem is importand to them because it is vital to us.
