1. You Do This to Shame Jerusalem
akiva ,   chicago   (06.23.05)
You wouldn't do this at Mecca where they would kill you, or in the Vatican. What other reason other than you hate yourselves and are antisemitic?
2. Thank You Mr. Mayor
Believer ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.23.05)
Jerusalem is held in high esteem by religious people the world over. Literally billions of people of faith view any "Gay" Parade in the Holy City as an insult, a spit in the face, an abomination worthy of mourning. These people have already had their say in Tel Aviv and no doubt Eilat and Haifa will follow, so why davka Jerusalem, too???? It is wholly unnecessary. I personally thank you Mr. Mayor for taking this difficult, but very important stand today. However, it remains to be seen whether the police and the government will uphold the rights of the majority with the same steadfastness that they do the "rights" of this in-your-face minority. Religious people have rights, too!!!
3. Why did G** destroy Sodom?
Jason ,   Arlington, US   (06.23.05)
19,24 Then the LOR* caused to rain upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LOR* out of heaven; 19,25 and He overthrow those cities, and all the Plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
4. It will be amazing as every year
Same as every year ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.23.05)
I was there last year and the year before. This parade is the pride of Jerusalem. Many groups have marches in Jerusalem, Christian fundamentalists, Orthodox Jews, Women in Black, Women in Green and so on. This city allows and will allow all to voice their oppinion. I will be there with my family, you are welcome as well...
5. a Parade for Jerusalem
Shame on the Mayor ,   Jerusalem   (06.23.05)
This Parade is for Jerusalem. An open pluralistic Jerusalem that respects all religions, Jews, Arabs, Druz and any type of person. I want Jerusalem to change for the better. I will be there!
6. About the paraqde
Ian H ,   JW.community of peru   (06.23.05)
Talking about tolerance and respect well lets try to respect the people who live in yerushalaim, respect not only for our jewish brothers how live there but also the other religious groups in the area. I´ve got no problem with homosexuality but i don't really think its the place to do such a thing...
7. Ask me, I want the Parade to go ahead.
Jerusalem Tax Payer   (06.23.05)
You may not know this but Jerusalem also has some people that are interested in this parade. It is exactly the place to have the parade. Jerusalem is proud that this parade will happen. I will be there, and you should come as well.
8. Welcome to the real Jerusalem
Yair ,   Jerusalem   (06.23.05)
Welcome to the real Jerusalem. This is a place people live in and don't only pray about. REAL people that love, work, pay taxes and eventually die. On the 30th of June some of those people will march in downtown Jerusalem for a better future.
9. Not wanting to upset Jerusalemites
David ,   USA   (06.25.05)
It is said that the gay parade is banned because it may upset people. So at last someone in Jerusalem cares about not upsetting people. But isn't focussing on cheese burger commercials and gay parades shooting quite a bit beside the target? How about keeping the neighbourhoods clean , banning non-performing public services or snotty public officials? Ranks higher on my avoid-upsetting-Jerusalemites scale.
10. bright colors in Jerusalem are a good thing!
healthy heterosexual ,   Jerusalem of course!   (06.25.05)
I am saddened by the fact that the Municipality has capitulated to the whims of certain elements of our population. What is so wrong and/or so threatening about happy people bringing beautiful bright colors and good cheer to the stone landscape of Jerusalem? What frightens all of you so very much about other people's openness to their own sexuality? Be as wish... Let others enjoy who they are! I for one definitely think this parade should step off and everyone should have a good time!
