No resonable person can deny that Jews have a right to a state in their historic homeland. The Arabs who have adopted the name "Palestinian" also deserve a better deal. To me it make sense to resettle them in Jordan given that Jordan is actually a Palestinian State with a population that is overwhelming Palestinian.

What concerns me with your article today in the Washington Post is not its aspirations for the Palestinian people. Many people around the world must grieve with you for your sons and all the other sons and daughters who die or are at risk. In other places, you have been quoted as saying Israel must "go to hell" and Palestine, including the Jewish state of Israel, must be taken back into a Muslim state. This means no coexistence of Israel and the Palestinians. It means that all Israelis must disappear into another diaspora, even as Palestinians return from theirs. What am I missing? I would join President Carter and even your comments on a bankrupt American policy, if Palestinians and Jews could show some mutual signs of beating all their swords into plowshares. The world would pour forth its goodness on peacemakers who do not seek the destruction of someone else as a condition to peace. Please give us some hope that is not built on the ancient conflict. Wasn't there time when Jews and Palestinians contributed to their mutual well being, when they were brothers and sisters? If you would set down the requirements for the return to peace and mutual respect, and if they were genuine and fair, no one in the world could resist you.
